Baliwakenews.com — Three decades after Hatten Winery began its winemaking journey in Indonesia, the winery is marking its 32nd anniversary with a new expression of Australian wine heritage.
Two Islands Wines has introduced Fine Tawny, a rich and elegant Port-Style wine crafted from premium South Australian grapes and matured through a traditional Solera 5 Years system.
The new release adds a sweet fortified wine to the Two Islands collection, combining the depth and complexity of classic fortified wines with a distinctly Australian character. Fine Tawny is designed for slow enjoyment, offering wine lovers an invitation to savour both the wine and the moment.
Since 1994, Hatten Winery, through PT Hatten Bali Tbk, has contributed to the development of Indonesia’s wine industry.
Its portfolio includes Hatten Wines, Two Islands Wines, Two Islands Reserve, and Dragonfly Wines, reflecting the company’s continued exploration of different wine styles and experiences for Indonesian consumers.
For Two Islands Wines, Fine Tawny completes a long-standing vision for the Australian-focused collection.
“Two Islands has always been about showcasing the diversity of Australian wine styles,” said James Kalleske, Head Winemaker of PT Hatten Bali Tbk.
“We already had sparkling wines, whites, rosés, and reds. One style that was missing was a sweet fortified wine. Fine Tawny completes the collection and pays tribute to Australia’s rich fortified wine heritage with a premium Port-Style wine crafted in the traditional way,” he added.
Fine Tawny is made from a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Tempranillo, and Muscat sourced from premium vineyards across South Australia. The wine delivers layers of caramel, dried fruits, toasted nuts, and exotic spices, followed by notes of toffee, orange peel, and subtle cocoa.
Matured slowly for an average of five years, the wine develops depth and complexity while retaining vibrant red berry characteristics that provide freshness and balance.
Another distinctive element is the use of house-made brandy, crafted and aged in oak barrels at the Sanur winery. Combined with Bali’s warm tropical climate and the traditional aging process, the technique produces a smooth, generous and well-integrated fortified wine.
The style also reflects Kalleske’s long-standing passion for fortified wines, developed since the beginning of his winemaking career in Australia’s Barossa Valley.
With an alcohol content of 18 percent ABV, Fine Tawny is intended to be enjoyed slowly. It can be paired with chocolate desserts, rich cakes and cheese platters, or served on its own as an after-dinner drink.
The wine also offers flexibility for casual and special occasions. Once opened, Fine Tawny can continue to be enjoyed for up to four weeks when refrigerated.
“Today’s wine drinkers are looking for sophistication, complexity, heritage, and often a touch of sweetness,” said Kalleske.
He added, “we believe Fine Tawny delivers all of those things. More than anything, we hope people experience a sense of reflection, history, and place in every glass.”
As Hatten Winery celebrates 32 years of winemaking, Fine Tawny represents the company’s continued exploration of wine styles while drawing on the heritage of Australian fortified wines.
Australian in style and crafted in Bali, the new Two Islands expression brings together tradition, innovation and the influence of time in a single bottle.
Activation and Community Manager of PT Hatten Bali Tbk, IGA Reditya Candradewi, said Two Islands Fine Tawny has been available since June 2026 at selected restaurants, wine retailers, The Cellardoor Bali and The Cellardoor Jakarta. BWN-07
